Not a Hollywood Blockbuster: The Friday Breakfast Show LIVE on New Year's EVE!

The Friday Breakfast Show is LIVE on New Year’s Eve

Do you like Indiana Jones?

Does Darth Vader intrigue you?

Does Russell Crowe rock your boat?

Do you like BIG explosions?

Is Eric Cartman Fab?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you should tune in to ICR 105.7 FM on Friday morning!

I know the above questions have absolutely nothing to do with ICR or the FBS but I needed something to catch you attention!

The Friday Breakfast Show starts at 7.00am.

Starring John ‘Austin Powers’ West

My Groovy Pad, Baby!

Also starring Terry ‘Groovy Hat’ Mackley

They make Ben Hur look like an Epic!

Happy Birthday to Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith of the Monkees!

Mike and Davy

Today is their birthday. Davy was born in Manchester in 1945 and Mike was born in Houston in 1942.

I once met Davy Jones. It was in the mid-80's. I popped backstage to see him after a London performance of 'Godspell'. We had a quick chat about the Monkees and his future plans. Great memory!

Anyway, here is a little birthday tribute to them!

"Valleri" was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. It reached Number 12 in the UK singles charts in 1968. It made it to Number Three in the US, and was to be the band's last top ten hit of the 1960s

"You Just May Be The One" was written by Mike Nesmith and was featured on their 1967 Headquarters album. The version featured in this video is an earlier take from 1966.

Headquarters was the third album released by the group. However, it was the first album written and recorded primarily by all four members of the group. It reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum in the US with sales of more than two million copies. The album was a Number 2 hit in the UK.

The Eternal Spirit Magazine

Paul Salmon - presenter of ICR's Eternal Spirit Radio Show - has just published the latest edition of the Eternal Spirit magazine. It's packed full of interesting articles on ghostbusting, interviews with mediums such as Mandy Jooste and even an article by a certain John West on Oliver Cromwell and Ghosts of the English Civil War.

So a big thank you to Paul for publishing my article and for also using some of my photos to illustrate the mag.

A plug for Captive8, another Christmas Blast From Your Past and a classic scene from Austin Powers

Another Fab show on ICR

I would like to recommend another great show on ICR. It's called biasmagazine and the Fab presenter is called Captive8. The show can be heard every Thursday from 7 - 8.30pm. She plays great funky music, has a great presenting voice and was even kind enough to play a dedication to my fellow Wed and Friday breakfast co-hosts. She also listens to the WBS on the way to work. So thanks!

And now another Blast From Your Christmas Past.....

The song was released in the United Kingdom in early December 1987, and swiftly became a hit reaching #1 in the Irish charts. On December 17, 1987, the Pogues and MacColl performed the song on the BBC's popular television show Top of the Pops, and it was propelled to #2 on the official UK Top 75. For the Top of the Pops appearance, the BBC insisted that MacColl's singing of "arse" be replaced with the less offensive "ass", although as she mimed the word MacColl slapped the relevant part of her body to make it clear what was meant.

And finally ..... here is a very funny clip from Austin Powers!
