Not a Hollywood Blockbuster: The Friday Breakfast Show LIVE on New Year's EVE!

The Friday Breakfast Show is LIVE on New Year’s Eve

Do you like Indiana Jones?

Does Darth Vader intrigue you?

Does Russell Crowe rock your boat?

Do you like BIG explosions?

Is Eric Cartman Fab?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you should tune in to ICR 105.7 FM on Friday morning!

I know the above questions have absolutely nothing to do with ICR or the FBS but I needed something to catch you attention!

The Friday Breakfast Show starts at 7.00am.

Starring John ‘Austin Powers’ West

My Groovy Pad, Baby!

Also starring Terry ‘Groovy Hat’ Mackley

They make Ben Hur look like an Epic!

Happy Birthday to Davy Jones and Mike Nesmith of the Monkees!

Mike and Davy

Today is their birthday. Davy was born in Manchester in 1945 and Mike was born in Houston in 1942.

I once met Davy Jones. It was in the mid-80's. I popped backstage to see him after a London performance of 'Godspell'. We had a quick chat about the Monkees and his future plans. Great memory!

Anyway, here is a little birthday tribute to them!

"Valleri" was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart. It reached Number 12 in the UK singles charts in 1968. It made it to Number Three in the US, and was to be the band's last top ten hit of the 1960s

"You Just May Be The One" was written by Mike Nesmith and was featured on their 1967 Headquarters album. The version featured in this video is an earlier take from 1966.

Headquarters was the third album released by the group. However, it was the first album written and recorded primarily by all four members of the group. It reached Number 1 on the Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum in the US with sales of more than two million copies. The album was a Number 2 hit in the UK.

Forsooth! Tis more Wednesday Stuff from Us to You

Gary Hooker

John West

And so it falls to me to tell you all a sad Christmas tale of mulled wine, John Hurt, tinsel and turkey.....

Once upon a time there were two very young radio presenters called Gary and John. One sunny day, they stumbled across ICR while seeking some spiritual enlightenment and the path to a £1 million winning lottery scratchcard.

They never did find enlightenment or even the card but the pesky and sometimes troublesome pair were offered the Wednesday Breakfast slot from 7.00 till 10.00 on ICR 105.7 FM.

And so ends my tale of sadness and woe. Tis time to wash my little toe.......

8.25. Steve Worsley of the Suffolk Industrial Archaeology Society will be talking to us about industrial archaeology in Ipswich.

9.05. John Cook (ex-Labour councillor for Priory Heath) will be in the studio to discuss the Fabian Society.

And don't forget Paul Salmon's Eternal Spirit Show at 10.00 am and Terry Mackley's Cafe Americaine at 2.00 pm.

More Happy Snappy Snaps from my CSV/ICR Photo Album

Me at home

What a day! I had about 2 hours sleep and left my glasses, hat and gloves at home.
We have introduced several new aspects to the FBS. Or was it just me???? I don't know.

NEW ASPECT NUMBER ONE: Every week I will be presenting John West's Fact of the Week ..... or until I get bored with it.

FACT NUMBER ONE: If you freeze a worm you can sharpen it like a pencil. But don't try this at home coz it's cruel. You will just have to take my word for it.

NEW ASPECT NUMBER TWO: We will be dedicating a new track every week to our fellow Breakfast presenters.

FIRST DEDICATION: The Bangles' Manic Monday was dedicated to the presenters of the Monday Breakfast Show.

NEW ASPECT NUMBER THREE: Cheese versus Fab. Me and Tel sometimes disagree on the musical worthiness of the track being played. He thought the theme to Space 1999 was 'cheesy'. I thought it was 'Fab'.

Judge for yourself.....

Expect more arguments live on air every week over this issue. I NEVER play cheesy tracks. I leave that to Tel!!!!!! Just kidding. Email us with your views at

And now to my CSV/ICR photo album.......

Me with various members of the CSV Team. All do a fantastic job!

Me with Keiran. He edits loads of shows for ICR

The Friday Breakfast Show

Terry Mackley on his recent Norfolk hols

John West caught on camera preparing himself for another stint at ICR.

The Friday Breakfast Show is back with Tel and John. I wonder how Tel fared on his hols in darkest Norfolk?

This week our guests are....

Helen Taylor from Age UK on how older people can keep warm this winter.

Alex Smith and Leah Jordan from Suffolk Independent Living. They will be talking to us about a service designed to help people with disabilities get financial help under a Suffolk County Council direct payment scheme.

The show starts at 7.00 am. So why not join us on ICR 105.7 FM for three hours of  great music, madness and fun!
